Benefit on car insurance with a clean driving licence
It has always been quite obvious that having a clean driving licence will reduce your car insurance quote, but compare.com can now reveal that motorists with points are paying up to a staggering 60% more than those with a clean licence.
Surveys show that on average lady drivers receive the lowest rates both online and from high street insurers, while young male drivers are paying the highest insurance rates.
Young drivers are feeling the pinch even more with surveys showing that a lady driver, 21 years old with a Ford Fiesta 1.3 litre would be paying on average 90% more with 6 penalty points. If she had gained 9 points then she could be paying an enormous 200% increase for her car insurance.
Furthermore, the numbers seem to be stacked in the womens favour, with speculation that women in their 20′s pay upto 10% less for their car insurance in most situations. With it looking increasingly bad for male drivers, there is some light at the end of the tunnel with older lady drivers being penalised more than men if they have penalty points on their licence.
Insurers often ask if drivers have received points within the previous years, therefore with many insurers, drivers can still be penalised on their premium long after the points on their licence have expired.
