This year, a large increase of car insurance fraud dubbed ‘crash for cash’ is threatening the pockets of legitimate drivers Compare.com has discovered.
On average, it is estimated that car insurance claims made fraudulently are costing the average Joe around £40 per car insurance policy. The huge rise in fraudulent claims is having a massive impact on society.
The association of British Insurers (ABI) discovered that there has been a 70% increase overall, in illegal claims over the last 3 years which is the equivalent of £5,000,000 per week. With claim ranging from the exaggeration of a car insurance claim to claiming undue compensation or claiming from an existing ailment.
There is light at the end of the tunnel however with uk law enforcement cracking down on the crash for cash perpetrators.
