Cristiano Ronaldo wrote off his Ferrari GTB 599 inside a tunnel close to Manchester Airport yesterday morning colliding with a wall and then veering across the road before hitting the opposite wall.

Amazingly the football star escaped the accident with not so much as a scratch, but unfortunatley for him the 205mph sports car was not in such good condition, Compare.com discovered.

Ronaldo, was lucky to get insured to begin with, driving a £200,000 sports car, aged 23 and of course as you can imagine, being a professional footballer is not one of the most policy-friendly occupations.

Some experts state that if he managed to get car insurance again for a similar car – that it could cost between £40,000 – £100,000 but spokesmen from AA car insurance said that none of their insurers would touch him with a bargepole. Also adding that if there had been other professional footballers in the car and due to the accident were unable to play football again – the insurance payout could have been staggering.

A spokesperson from Adrian Flux claimed anything was possible and it just depends how much a person is willing to spend.
