Motorists reducing car insurance claims for minor scrapes
Some motorists may find themselves receiving cheap car insurance quotes in the coming days as a result of them not presently claiming for minor scrapes, a research has suggested.
Motor Insurance Provider Swinton polled 1,700 customers and discovered that 56% of the respondents planned to put off getting minor bodywork damage repaired until they had more disposable income. The company has noted down a 23% drop in the number of claims made recently for minor repairs, when compared to the last year records of the same period.
Steve Chelton, the group’s insurer development manager for motor insurance stated that many motorists have looked to gain cheap car insurance by offering to pay a higher voluntary excess. He also added that “This means it is not cost-effective to make claims for minor superficial repairs.”
He at the end said that “Unfortunately, rather than paying for the repairs out of their own pocket, people are just ignoring them”.
