Drivers urged to show their support for the British auto industry

People who plan to take advantage of the government’s car scrappage scheme, which is launched today, have been urged to buy British. Nissan pointed out the programme is perfect opportunity for car buyers to demonstrate their support for the manufacturer’s based in the country and to make it even more tempting to go for a model built on home soil- the company has introduced an additional incentive.

It will knock £2,000 off the price of any of its autos produced in Sunderland for people who trade in a vehicle aged between eight and ten years old. To qualify for the official scheme, motorists need to have a car that has been around for at least a decade.

Paul Willcox, managing director of Nisan in the UK said that “In extending the £2,000 minimum trade-in against British-built range to include eight to ten years old cars, Nisan has been given the UK manufacturing industry the much needed boost”.
