Compare car insurance and buy the best to stay away from fines
New measures have been announced by the Department of Transport which focuses on reducing the number of vehicles without insurance. This would eventually bring down the cost for the other drivers as well. It will now be an offence to keep vehicles that are not insured. This will make it easier to catch the people who are driving the cars without license. There have been 160 deaths and 23000 injuries on the roads every year and the cost that the law abiding people have to pay for them is around £400million a year. This cost gets added to their insurance premium in order to cover the whole cost.
According to Road Safety Minister, Paul Clark, actions have already been taken to put more police to check the unruly people and the forces will work to seize almost 400 people every day. Anyone who has a vehicle that doesn’t have an insurance policy will come under covers after the implementation of this rule. No one will be able to hide from these new rules. The police forces were already given the powers to seize a vehicle that does not have insurance and go till the extent of destroying it but the new rules take this power a little further.
The police can even take hold of the cars that are not being driven by anyone. Fine will be imposed only after the owner of the car is sent a letter of warning. This act is bound to benefit the car insurance supermarket as the people will now buy insurance policies for their vehicles even if they do not drive them. If the owner fails to act even after the fine and warning, the vehicle could be seized and even destroyed.
