London drivers make it to the top of the uninsured list
The motor insurance bureau has always come up with researches to show the lenient attitude of London drivers towards the car insurance obligation. The researches have always shown that most of the people do not pay heed to the rules and regulations and do not buy car insurance. A new research has brought out the facts that show the limit of the negligence.
The facts say that in Greater London, the percentage of vehicles that do not run with an insurance policy is 13%. The figures in Merseyside and Greater Manchester however were 12 % and 10%. This is something that has raised an alarm with the authorities. The fourth position was taken by the West Midlands and West Yorkshire and the figures were a whopping 7%. These figures were not the same in the recent years and according to an estimate by the MIB, almost 1.7 million drivers did not have an insurance policy in the year 2008.
The bureau is taking regular steps to ensure that people do not cut down on their insurance just to save money. Even when they are in a poor financial condition, they should keep their car insurance or they can get involved in bigger problems. The people are being informed that if they do not take a policy, they will be eligible to receive six penalty points and every point would mean £200 and their vehicle can also be seized. The authorities are worried over the situation and drivers who do not have an insurance policy are being caught everyday. The surprising thing is that almost 500 people are being caught everyday.
Driving uninsured is not worth taking a risk and the rules and regulations for the defaulters have been tightened. It is thus advisable to compare car insurance and choose the best policy instead of giving up on the whole insurance policy.
