Elderly not getting car insurance policies
The latest news about car insurance doing rounds is that older people are being fleeced by the insurers and lenders. The elderly have accused these two parties, namely lenders and insurers of imposing unfair age limits to the insurance policies. It is known to everyone that the companies tend to think of older people as bigger risks when it comes to giving them car insurance policies. This is why they are charged higher premiums as well. Finding the right insurance policies is too much pain for the older people and they have now raised a voice against the same. They are against the unfair prices that are demanded by the car insurance companies.
The accusation has come from an age charity. The charity showed concern that the car insurance policies and the travel insurance policies most of the times exclude people who are over the age of 80 years. The companies also did not focus on the status of the health of the elderly and excluded them from the insurance policies. The charity is disappointed for the fact that even today, in the modern world; the companies are differentiating between people based on their age and their birth certificate.
The move of the companies is also against the equality bill and the charity is of the belief that sometimes age is one of the acceptable factors when it comes to pricing the car insurance but putting automatic age limits is not acceptable. This also means that the car insurance companies will lose their older customers as they are not being given the car insurance policies. The charity contacted many insurance companies to give an insurance policy to the elderly but half of the companies refused to do so. This means that if you are over the age of 80 years, you will have to compare car insurance and contact a number of companies to get a car insurance policy for yourself.
