SAFC star Bent in car insurance row
Not just the common man but the celebrities too become victims of legal battles. One of the recent cases is that of the Sunderland star. The star, Darren bent is now involved in a legal tiff with an insurance company. The tiff started after the star hired an Aston martin. He did this in spite of the fact that his car worth £70,000 was already in the garage for repairing. Bent owns a Mercedes CLS coupe and it was involved in a serious accident when it collided with a vehicle in the month of February. After that the vehicle was damaged badly and almost £20,000 was to be spent on the damage repair of the car.
Allianz, the insurance company was the one to accept the responsibility for the damages that the car had suffered. The bosses of the company were not impressed by the decision that the court gave. The court ordered the company to pay a further amount of £63,000 to the 26 year old star. On the other hand, bent had hired an Aston martin for a period of more than three months. The courts decision was not at all according to the liking of the company and thus they have got the right to appeal against it. The company is going to appeal against the fact that bent was given the money to hire the car.
The motor and casualty claims manager for Allianz is of the view that the company will keep on with the claim. The claim according to him is unnecessary and excessive as well. The company had accepted to pay to the star because he was involved in the accident with a person who had a policy with the company. The company has no problem in paying the claim but the only problem they had was with the cost of vehicle he hired.
