The key issue in car insurance for women
Defaqto, an independent research company conducted a survey on five thousand people about vehicle insurance in the UK. The results of this survey say that female drivers are very much worried to cover the cost of their car locks replaced in the event of the vehicle being stolen or keys getting lost. Women drivers are more concerned to claim these costs in their insurance policy. If we compare car insurance policies features of men and women, the difference is noticeable.
The study revealed that around 24 per cent of car insurance policies do not cover the lock replacement. In addition, the policies that provide this cover, the insurer companies put a claim limit of about £1,500. There were only 37 per cent of the policies, which offered more cover than that.
An insight analyst at Defaqto for general insurance says that according to the survey results, the cover for the cost of replacing car locks is very less significant to male drivers, while the same holds great importance for female motorists.
He also added that car insurance policies that pay for the cost of replacing the door locks would extend this to any limit in the policy. Some more policies are also covering for the replacement of lock transmitter or the central lock in the vehicle.
Then, he also said that it is important for drivers to compare car insurance companies for the cover they provide, as they tend to vary with different insurers. Reading the policy wordings carefully is also important to know because in some cases, the insurer company might want the policyholder to prove that the person who possess the ignition keys knows the garage address of the car.
This difference of preferences in car insurance policy features is also visible in many other additional benefits opted by men and women.
