Flashing Signals for Speed Checks Might Lead to Hike Insurance Premium
Almost 50% of the motorists flash their headlights to the coming drivers on road if any speed check is taking place. This way they try to warn the other driver about the check of speed limit. While driving if the drivers find any speed check then try to protect the other coming drivers from this surveillance by sending warning signals through flashing of their headlights. According to the Institute of Advanced Motorists, the motor insurance holders try to reduce another driver risk of being caught by speed check and fined. Last month, a motorist was caught and fined with a hefty amount of £250 as he was warning other drivers about the speed check happening there by flashlights. After the incident, the association did a survey and found that 70% of the people are in favour of the prosecution of the driver but rest of the people were against it. As most of the drivers themselves feel that signalling about any speed check happening is not wise so the drivers must avoid such actions.
According to the chief examiner of the association, the flashing of lights must not be done to warn about speed check, as the drivers who drive at risky speed must be caught and fined for their attempt. This way the drivers will be punished for their act and even they will have to face hike in premium charges due to the prosecution or fine by traffic police.
